UPPER GARONNE VALLEY – FR7300883

Deep valley, divided between the two banks of the Garonne: the Burat massif on the left bank, from the Crabère massif to the coume de Ger on the right bank. The Burat is an imposing peak with a particularly steep northern slope, home to some of the wildest areas, including the Burat Palarquère forest reserve. The right bank is a continuation of the Gar Cagire massif, with the low-lying area of Saint-Pé-d’Ardet. Then the forest dominates, encircling a few mountain pastures. Between Melles and Crabère, there is a vast plateau at an altitude of 2,000 m where the Uls peat bogs can be found.
