In the heart of the natural micro-region of Les Frontignes, overlooking the Garonne and Barousse valleys, an intimate and authentic trail event takes place every year. The Trail des Frontignes, scheduled for 25 October 2025, invites runners to discover the eight communes around Saint-Pé-d’Ardet. This mountain race, organised with the characteristic passion of Pyrenean volunteers, takes 80% of its route off the beaten track, offering total immersion in these unspoilt territories where every path tells the story of our ancestors.
The 2025 edition offers a varied programme with three distances to suit all levels. The 8km family route (400 D+) “Le chemin de nos anciens” (“The path of our elders”) takes in Saint-Pé-d’Ardet, Genos and the Tarride hill along authentic mountain paths. The 18km (900 D+) sporting route allows you to explore more of our villages in a striking mountain setting. The 30km challenge (1650 D+) offers a complete tour of all the communes in the Frontignes, providing a true overview of our region. A free 8km discovery walk completes the offer for families and visitors wishing to discover our trails more gently.
The Trail des Frontignes is a wonderful ambassador for our mountain landscapes. The routes offer sublime views of the 3000-metre peaks of the Luchonnais, the prestigious peaks for which our central Pyrenees are famous. Runners have privileged access to certain private paths that are only open during the event, allowing them to discover unparalleled views of our valley. After the race, continue your local experience around Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges or the cité des abeilles.
This trail event fits in perfectly with our strategy of developing sports and nature tourism. Organised from 8am to 3pm with full support (markers, marshals, medical team), it guarantees safety and professionalism while retaining a human and friendly dimension. The Trail des Frontignes attracts a clientele of keen runners who discover our destination and contribute to the local economy through their accommodation and catering. This high-quality sporting event enhances the appeal of the Haut-Garonne Pyrenees and positions Saint-Pé-d’Ardet and the surrounding villages as a leading trail destination in our department.
