The railway line between Montréjeau and Luchon is back in service. This historic link, which serves the stations at Gourdan-Polignan, Loures-Barbazan, Marignac-Saint-Béat and Luchon, offers a new sustainable transport alternative linking Toulouse to the Haut-Garonne Pyrenees.
The communauté de communes Pyrénées Haut-Garonnaises has set up the Vali shuttle, a local transport experiment that will run during the summer period from 12 July to 30 August. This shuttle is a partial response to local mobility needs while waiting for the definitive return of the train. It enables travellers arriving at Luchon station to easily reach the various districts of the town and the adjacent communes. The Vali shuttle is part of a process to assess the relevance of a permanent public transport service, offering a practical solution for urban and suburban travel in the Luchon area.
The Lipy shuttles are a soft mobility solution specially designed to serve the major natural sites in the Haut-Garonne Pyrenees. Available 7 days a week during the summer, these shuttles enable travellers to easily reach the region’s major tourist destinations without having to use their private car. The shuttles run between the stations at Loures-Barbazan, Marignac-Saint-Béat and Luchon, taking passengers to iconic sites such as theHospice de France, the Granges d’Astau and Le Mourtis. This public transport service promotes sustainable tourism and facilitates access to the unspoilt natural areas of the Pyrenees mountains.
The Lio Occitanie transport network is an effective complement to the rail network, covering the whole of the Haut-Garonne Pyrenees. These regional coaches provide inter-urban and rural connections, linking communes together. The Lio network offers timetables tailored to the needs of local residents for their daily and business travel, while serving areas that are less accessible by train. This complementarity between rail and road means that we can build a coherent and attractive public transport offer across the entire catchment area, making it easier for residents and visitors alike to discover the richness of the Haut-Garonne Pyrenees.
