Mountain safety

A conference on mountain safety will be held on Thursday 20 November 2025 at 6.30pm at the Salle Henri PAC in Luchon, as part of the Rendez-vous Citoyens programme. Entitled“Risks in the mountains: let’s get informed to avoid the dangers“, this free evening will be hosted by Sébastien Lucena, Unit Commander of the Luchon High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon, accompanied by his team. This is a unique opportunity to benefit from the expertise of professionals who work in the mountains on a daily basis and have an in-depth knowledge of the specific features of our Pyrenean massif.

The high mountain gendarmes will share their experience in the field, their advice on prevention and the right reflexes to adopt depending on the season and the activities practised. This meeting will also be an opportunity to talk directly to these specialists and ask your questions about mountain safety.
