On 12 October, the local association “Elles” is organising the My Rose, a sporting and solidarity event in the streets of Luchon. This sixth edition of the event features a 6-kilometre, non-timed, non-classified route, where participants can choose their pace, between walking and running, according to their preferences and abilities. With a difference in altitude of just 100 metres, the event is accessible to as many people as possible, while offering the exceptional setting of the Pyrenean spa town.
The initiative is resolutely inclusive and intergenerational, welcoming women and men aged 16 and over in a spirit of solidarity in the fight against breast cancer. Registration fees remain symbolic at 10 euros for adults and 8 euros for 12-18 year-olds, while access is free for under-12s. The meeting point is set for 10am for a fun warm-up in the Parc du Casino, before a mass start at 10.30am on a course that will be magnificently decorated with thousands of little pink and white squares adorning the trees along the route.
Born in 2018 from an initial experience of solidarity during the Luchon Aneto Trail, the ” Elles ” association was formed to create this local event to raise awareness of breast cancer, a disease that affects one in ten women in France. As part of the Pink October campaign, this My Rose is a perfect illustration of the commitment of the communities in the Pyrenees, who know how to mobilise for public health causes, combining sport, solidarity and an exceptional natural setting to raise awareness of breast screening and raise funds for research.
