The Communauté de Communes des Pyrénées Haut-Garonnaises (CCPHG), in collaboration with the communes of Frontignan-de-Comminges, Malvezie and Saint-Pé-d’Ardet, is launching an ambitious, participatory project: theAtlas of Communal Biodiversity (ABC).
Why an ABC?
The main aim of this atlas is simple: to gain a better understanding of our flora and fauna so that we can protect them more effectively. Through this project, the CCPHG wishes to draw up a complete inventory of the biodiversity present in the area. This will make it possible to identify local ecological issues, adapt development policies and better preserve natural environments.
But an ABC is not just a scientific project. It’s also a citizens’ project.
Residents, associations, amateur naturalists or the curious: your views count. By taking part in nature outings, workshops or observation sessions, you can make a real contribution to our knowledge of the living world around you. It’s a great opportunity to reconnect with your environment while developing your observation, identification and nature photography skills.
The project will run for three years. It includes :
inventories carried out by experts and open to local residents,
mapping of environments and species
drawing up a local action plan to integrate biodiversity into municipal decision-making.
The kick-off meeting will take place on Friday 16 May 2025 at 6pm in the Malvezie village hall. This will be an opportunity to find out about the broad outlines of the project, the resources being deployed and, above all, to understand how everyone can get involved.
A collective commitment to a shared heritage
Preserving our biodiversity is not just an environmental issue; it’s also a way of strengthening the bond with the region and its inhabitants. The ABC is an invitation to once again take an active role in our environment, on a local scale.
