Welcome to our Les Jours Heureux Park in Saléchan in the Hautes-Pyrénées. We welcome you to discover the world of farm animals and the wild fauna of our mountains in a fun and curious way.
The “jours heureux” association was founded in 2009 under the impetus of its current president. Initially a refuge for animals of all kinds and from all walks of life, the park opened its doors to the public in 2013 with the aim of raising visitors’ awareness of animal welfare and respect for the environment.
Set in the heart of nature on an initial area of 3 hectares of marshy wasteland, the site now covers around ten hectares open to the public and more than twice that reserved for animals when the park is closed. A colossal task of development, while ensuring the preservation of the environment and biodiversity.
Work that is now bearing fruit, because in addition to the species on show to our visitors, it’s not uncommon to come across squirrels, badgers, roe deer and other mountain mammals along the way, as well as an impressive variety of birds, including nesting ravens and red kites. To date, the park brings together more than 300 animals split into 35 different species of both domestic and wild fauna.
I learn how to make cheese
A 2-hour family activity based around milk, during which we learn: how to make a tomme-type cheese, the milking technique
Guided tour
Share a friendly family moment lasting around 2 hours (during school holidays) during which we will introduce you to the animals in the park and help feed them. Booking essential.
Lord for a day
Experience the day-to-day life of our park, on Wednesday mornings from 9am to 10am by reservation.
Baptism on a pony
Discover horse riding for children aged 2 to 10 years on a circuit either 30 minutes within the park, or about 1 hour on a footpath in the undergrowth. A very pleasant, shady trail for all the family (pony held in hand, minimum one adult per hired pony). Caution: difficult access for pushchairs on this path.
Discovery pony
2-hour activity, open to children aged 4 to 10, during which we learn: how to approach a pony, take care of it (grooming) and do fun exercises on the pony (acrobatics).
The little world of ants
Become ant specialists “myrmecologist”, discover their fascinating world, their life in society and build your own anthill.
Discovering wildlife
Set off into the heart of the forest to discover wild animals. Thanks to the various clues found, let’s discover how they live, what they eat and what makes them special. As you make your way through the woods, learn to recognise different animal footprints, habitats and passages. At the end of this outing, try your hand at moulding footprints.

Anim’mon parc
Anim’mon parc A day open to children aged 4 to 10, during which we offer: a short pony discovery activity, a fun game based around the animals in the park, a small snack and the feeding of some of the animals.
