Description

Carved into the mountainside, it is one of the rare ancient quarries where traces of extraction can still be seen.
The limestone was partially broken up by the pressure of the Iberian and Eurasian tectonic plates, which formed the Pyrenean chain. It is these geological features that give it its distinctive colour and shape, hence its name of breccia.
The Romans are thought to have been the first to quarry marble here, due to the ease of access.

Considered one of the village’s historic monuments, it has now been developed as a climbing site, offering access to climbers while promoting this exceptional heritage.
