Statue created in blue St-Béat marble by the artist Christian Jacques in 2000 during the Festival de la Sculpture et du Marbre de Saint-Béat-Lez.
In this work, the artist evokes roundness, curves, breaks and tensions, all forms that convey the contradictions of the fusional, emotional and sensual relationship between two people. The importance of the height in relation to the ribs of the base (forming a sort of totem pole) is a reference to primitive art.
After training at the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse, Christian Jacques set up his studio in the Ardèche, then in the Aude. He works in clay, sculpting stone, marble, granite and basalt. His aim is “to tell human stories using shapes, materials and light”.
His work has been exhibited at numerous art fairs and exhibitions.
