In the heart of the Pyrenees, just 1h30 from Toulouse, at the foot of the highest peaks (13 peaks over 3000m) in this grandiose and authentic range, a mountain town with a unique setting, Luchon presents an ideal environment for all sports enthusiasts and nature lovers.
The aptly named Bagnères de Luchon (“the baths of the land of Ilixo”, god of the springs) was already renowned for its natural hot waters in Gallo-Roman times. It was only in the 18th century that the town really developed around the “baths” and, frequented by rich and illustrious people, became the Queen of the Pyrenees.
In addition to the thermal baths and the vaporarium, the only one of its kind in Europe, the town boasts an architectural ensemble that is as refined as it is picturesque and eclectic.
With several museums and two major events – the International Festival of Television Creations in February and the Flower Festival at the end of August – Luchon, classified as a “Grand site de Midi-Pyrénées”, has never ceased to be a renowned place for culture and relaxation.
From the town centre of the “Queen of the Pyrenees”, take the cable car to the Luchon-Superbagnères ski resort in just 8 minutes. On arrival, you’ll discover a magnificent panorama and be able to ski, hike, snowshoe or paraglide…
Winter sports, white water, swimming pools, tennis, golf, paragliding, mountain biking, hiking, gliding, hang-gliding, not forgetting the thermal baths at Luchon Forme et Bien-Être and the many cultural events, Luchon can be enjoyed all year round without moderation!
