The queen stage, undoubtedly the most beautiful of the 2025 Tour, between Pau and Luchon-Superbagnères, the climb of which has not been used in the Tour since 1989.
A number of legendary cols will be climbed on this day (Tourmalet, Aspin, Peyresourde), culminating in the 18km ascent between Luchon and Superbagnères.
This route has given rise to some great duels, with some great champions having distinguished themselves here: Imerio Massignan, Federico Bahamontes, José Manuel Fuente, Bernard Hinault, Greg LeMond and Robert Millar.
The route of stage 14 is modelled on the 1986 edition, which was already on the 14th day of the race. The ascent to the Tourmalet via Luz-Saint-Sauveur (19km at 7.4%) is the least travelled, as is the route to the Col d’Aspin via Payolle (5km at 7.6%). Above all, it will be a reunion with the ultra-demanding climb to Superbagnères (12.4km, 7.5%), where the changes in gradient lend themselves to a pitched battle between the favourites.
