Climbing competition open to everyone from U19 upwards, with or without a licence. 6 hours to complete as many routes as possible, then a final route to decide between the finalists. Briefing at 9.30am, departure at 10am.
The Course à l’Echalote is back for a 4th edition, a fixture on the regional climbing calendar. New this year: the event is part of the GET adult circuit set up by the Comité Territorial 31-32, giving it an even more official status.
The format remains the same as in previous years. Climbers are invited to a safety briefing at 9.30am, before the competition kicks off at 10am. For 6 hours, each participant is free to complete a maximum number of routes at his or her own pace – all earning the same number of points, which puts endurance and strategy at the heart of the game as much as pure technique. The majority of the routes are climbed using the top-roping method, with the exception of the most pronounced overhangs, which are climbed head-on.
At 4 p.m., the top three men and women will be ranked, and they will then battle it out for victory on the final route. It’s a short but intense final, which promises to be a thriller every year.
The competition is open to everyone from the U19 category upwards, whether or not you have a licence. Non-members will simply be able to take out a day’s licence on site, at a cost of €5. Registrations are already available online.
