Haute-Garonne Tourisme offers a memorial walk in the footsteps of a group of Resistance fighters, followed by another loop through a chestnut grove to discover one of the first trees to appear in the Pyrenees after the ice age 14,000 years ago.
This hike is proposed by Haute-Garonne Tourisme and will be supervised by the CDRP (Comité Départemental de la Randonnée Pédestre).
This hike will be divided into two sections
An initial route with a memorial loop following in the footsteps of a group of Resistance fighters who, in October 1943, risked their lives to reach Bausen and cross the Spanish border. First used by smugglers, then by the Spanish Republicans during the Civil War, the Paths to Freedom became the only hope for thousands of people to escape the Nazi regime during the Second World War.
A second loop on the Roussillon mountain will take you to the Spanish border.
A second loop on the Rié mountain with beautiful viewpoints, crossing a chestnut grove and discovering one of the first trees to appear in the Pyrenees after the ice age 14,000 years ago
