Under the big top of Sono io? a father and son (in life as well as on the ring), both clowns, question the difficulties linked to transmission and inheritance, while paying a vibrant tribute to circus theatre.
Between dissimilarities and similarities, reality and fiction, Danny (the father) wonders “is it really me?” as he looks at Pepijn (the son). The latter belongs to the seventh generation (a sacred number!) of the family entering the fray. To be the guardian of such a long family history is no mean feat!
With a great deal of humour and no less poetry, between light and shade, in a world reminiscent of Fellini’s clowns and the atmosphere of Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, two characters are brought together “between old glories and new possibilities”.
Circus Ronaldo is a contemporary circus that plays on tradition – it’s beautiful, tender and funny!
