Deep valley, divided between the two banks of the Garonne: the Burat massif on the left bank, from the Crabère massif to the coume de Ger on the right bank. The Burat is an imposing peak with a particularly steep northern slope, home to some of the wildest areas, including the Burat Palarquère forest reserve.
Burat Palarquère forest reserve. The right bank continues the Gar Cagire massif with the low-lying area of Saint-Pé-d’Ardet. Then the forest dominates, encircling a number of mountain pastures. Between Melles and Crabère, there is a vast plateau at an altitude of 2,000 m where the Uls peat bogs can be found.
