Linking Hendaye to Banyuls, the GR10 crosses the Haute-Garonne to the very south, in the heart of the Pyrenees. It passes through the town of Bagnères-de-Luchon and the village of Fos, the 2 stages of the GR10 in Haute-Garonne.
This varied route, between the communes of Oô and Melles, crosses several passes over 2000 metres, but also descends into open valleys and passes through typical Pyrenean villages.
The areas it passes through have retained all their authenticity, and it’s not unusual to find flocks and their shepherds along the way. The mountain scenery is an invitation to contemplate.
Rather demanding, with steep gradients, it is appreciated by seasoned hikers and requires good preparation and appropriate equipment.
Towns crossed: Luchon-Superbagnères resort, Bagnères de Luchon, Juzet-de-Luchon, Sode, Artigue, Fos, Melles.
