4. Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges → Luchon: heading for the queen of the Pyrenees
As the peaks get closer, the stage takes on a mountainous air. You pass through lush green valleys, dotted with small, typically Pyrenean villages with stone houses and slate roofs. The route reaches its climax in Bagnères-de-Luchon, nicknamed the “Queen of the Pyrenees”, a renowned spa town and gateway to the major passes.

Description

The valley deepens, the Garonne becomes a torrent. Luchon, “Queen of the Pyrenees”, offers a Belle Époque finish.

The route follows roads open to traffic. You will come across crossings and junctions, as well as stretches with varying degrees of traffic. For everyone’s safety, it’s essential to obey the Highway Code and keep an eye out for other road users.
