37 – REFUGE DU MAUPAS

The view from the refuge will make you forget the effort required for the climb. From this perched eagle’s nest, you can also admire the wild cirque of Crabioules. The refuge makes a perfect base camp for reaching the surrounding peaks, in particular the famous Maupas at 3109 m, with its recognisable silhouette. The summit is for experienced hikers only, as the tricky passage to the brèche requires particular care.
