MOULIN DES ARTS

Dating back to the 16th century, this water mill in the Tignerie district of Saint-Béat was used as a flour mill until 1960.
The mill is a vestige of local heritage. It is unique in that its wells (vats) are “made of white Saint-Béat marble”.

Description

Acquired by the town council in 2001, the mill has undergone a meticulous restoration that has restored its original mechanism while preserving its historic architectural and technical features.
In days gone by, the inhabitants of the Saint-Béat valleys used to come here to have their grain ground. It was a real meeting place, as people often came from far and wide. News was exchanged here…
During the school holidays, the Moulin des Arts organises so-called “temporary” exhibitions on different themes, ranging from heritage and local know-how to arts and crafts…
