Foire de Luchon: A highlight for mountain livestock farming in Haute-Garonne
The Haute-Garonne Chamber of Agriculture is organising the 4th edition of the Luchon Fair on Saturday 6 September 2025 in Bagnères de Luchon.
This event has been organised by the livestock farmers of the Luchon region, with the aim of reaching out to both professionals and the general public, and promoting transhumance livestock farming in Haute-Garonne. The Foire de Luchon is in the great tradition of the fairs of yesteryear, with the aim of creating a strong, convivial time of exchange and sharing for mountain breeders and between producers and consumers.
A genuine annual meeting place for pastoralists in the Haute-Garonne, the Fair offers cattle, sheep and horses for sale coming down from the mountain pastures.
It’s an opportunity for livestock farmers to meet and exchange ideas.
The Fair also serves as an informative “showcase” for transhumant livestock farming for the general public.
Throughout the day, a producers’ market and events will be organised to show the different facets of the profession, including herding dog demonstrations, ewe shearing and animal exhibitions.
The Luchon Fair is organised by the Haute-Garonne Chamber of Agriculture and the Luchonnais livestock farmers, with the support of the Luchon Town Hall, the Communauté de communes des Pyrénées Haut-Garonnaises and the Conseil Départemental de Haute-Garonne.
